Name :- Paul Ashton

Before going freelance I worked for :- Various UK venues, last one being YEC in Harrogate

The reason I went Freelance was :- To be able to work more flexibly across different sectors and to bring my experience and expertise to various clients in the event and venue sector.

Since going Freelance I have :- Provided Business Development consultancy for a northern based AV and Production House.
Worked with a global US based venue management organisation around strategies for exhibition and corporate event growth across their UK venues, plus writing and designing sales collateral for a new COEX and arena venue in the UK, including floorplan design, advert and publicity narrative, liaison with the regional business DMO and writing of event proposal documents.

I make a genuine difference to my clients business by :- Providing an expert and professional service that is fast to respond, and brings to them my 25 years of venue and event sector experience in sales, business development and client liaison. All provided with genuine enthusiasm and diligence- you have to be a people person in this industry, like to talk and meet, and I have those attributes in spades!

My key skill sets are :- Event business development and sales, sales collateral writing and design, client liaison and account direction, strategy writing and presentation.

Here's what a client says about what I do :- ASM Global engaged Paul to support the creation of sales collateral and sales strategy for a new ASM-managed venue, which will open in the UK in 2023. Our conference sales team worked with Paul to respond to inbound demand for association conferences, whilst working with the regional business DMO to coordinate the venue pricing and event solutions.

We also engaged Paul to scope potential strategies for corporate event development across ASM's UK venue portfolio, and to explore regional industrial sectors to inform a strategy for trade shows and consumer exhibitions.

Paul has a great knowledge of the UK events sector and we were delighted to work with him over an intensive 3 month window, while we mobilised a new in-house team.

I'm filling my days on lock down with :- Spending time with my kids, getting fit, and helping out delivering food to older people self isolating in my region.

Post Lockdown, the thing I am most looking forward to is :- Getting back to making a difference to my clients business in a commercial way, and for our wonderful industry returning to a degree of normality so our audiences can meet, interact, exchange knowledge, and have some fun together once again in the amazing venues we have all across the UK.
